A Plague Tale: Surviving the Shadows of Swarm

The moment you saw the word "Plague" on the title what was the first thing that came to your mind? Was it about the bubonic plague caused by some infected fleas living on rodents like rats? Can you imagine being surrounded by those diseased creatures? 

Well, get ready for a compelling and immersive journey through the series of "A Plague Tale", an action-adventure game developed by Asobo Studio and published by Focus Home Interactive.The first game in the 'A Plague Tale' series, 'A Plague Tale: Innocence' was released in 2019, and later a sequel titled 'A Plague Tale: Requiem' was released in 2022.

Throughout this game, you will be immersed into a gripping tale of two siblings as they fight to survive in a world full of deadly rats, disease, war and the inquisition.

A Plague Tale: Innocence

                                    

This game is basically inspired by the true events of the bubonic plague pandemic that once took place in Europe in the 14th century. It's connection to the game, is what really got me excited to look deeper into this game, since it adds more emotion to a player's experience. And I'm glad that the developers actually managed to capture a bit of that history on display with its amazing graphics which is both beautiful and creepy at the same time.

Throughout this game, I've played as Amicia since she is the only playable character. But in

one chapter of "A Plague Tale: Innocence", you can play as Hugo too and something interesting happens in that chapter with the discovery of a mysterious power.

Besides, these two siblings, there are many more impressive side characters with whom I got so emotionally attached that I was depressed for some days after experiencing the deaths of my favourite ones. Each and every single details of the emotions of sadness, happiness, anger and fear were perfectly visible through the expressions of the characters.

 

A Plague Tale: Innocence

Speaking about the graphics quality, my experience of the Innocence was way better than Requiem. It's actually because I've 4GB graphics card for the PC. So I got to play the Innocence in a high quality but the 2nd one got a bit weird since I had to play it in the lowest way possible. 

However, I still tried it in the ultra mode, even though it wasn't quite playable. But I can't deny that it was actually a dope too! The graphics quality of the Requiem, greatly improved compared to the previous one and looks more realistic. From the scenery of ruins of the medieval castles to the fields overrun by rats, every single detail of the atmosphere was a total masterpiece! Moreover, the sound quality is equally impressive as the spooky audio effects can successfully create a sense of unease among the players.

Both the game combines stealth, puzzle-solving and a narrative-driven gameplay for a better experience. Players will have to use their wits to outsmart the enemies and protect hugo from any obstacles that might come their way. So overall, this game is an absolute perfection!

It's been 2 months since I've finished this game. The ending, soundtracks, all the sweet and sad moments of this game are still roaming in my head. To me, this was one of the best games I've played so far and I'd definitely recommend this to anyone who loves PC games. I wish I could spoil a bit more of the story but I don't think it's a good idea to ruin the experience of the newbies. Now finally, with a tremendous excitement in me, I'm hoping to walk through this journey once again.
